Information on the effort and costs of Qualiservice's services and the assumption of costs by research funding organizations

Qualiservice archives qualitative research data from various social research disciplines and makes it available for scientific reuse (secondary use). Qualiservice was accredited by the German Council for Social and Economic Data (RatSWD) in 2019 and is involved in the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI/ KonsortSWD).

Efforts required to prepare qualitative research data for subsequent scientific use

If you are considering archiving and making your research data available at Qualiservice, please contact us in good time before submitting your application. In a free initial consultation, you will receive information on the procedure, the project-specific costs and the services we offer. Based on the information you provide, Qualiservice will then prepare an offer that you can attach to your project application.

Most research funding organizations now finance the costs associated with the data preparation required for scientific reuse, provided that this was also applied for. The costs required to prepare for secondary use include both the costs for data preparation in a research data center and the costs required in the project (e.g. data documentation, anonymization/pseudonymization).

Reuse is free of charge

Only qualified scientists are granted access to research data after signing a re-use agreement. This agreement sets out the conditions for re-use (e.g. assurance that no re-identifications will be made, assumption of liability by Qualiservice, etc.). Re-use is free of charge.

If research data is to be further processed for a specific re-use interest, costs may be incurred for this data processing work.

Here you will find an overview of the free and chargeable services offered by Qualiservice (in German). The average personnel costs are charged for the chargeable services. Please note that the overview does not constitute a cost offer from Qualiservice - please contact us in this regard.
